Description: This award is given to the wrestler who came out of nowhere to make it to the state tournament.

Breakdown: Hosia Smith spent much of last year as a back-up, but the sophomre hit the ground running this year. In his first year on the mat, Smith was able to make the City Tournament finals, placed at the Al Smith(7th), won his regional, and placed 5th at the IHSAA State tournament. After no being able to make Cathedral's line-up a year ago, Smith looks to be another great big guy in the Irish's room and has been named this years Hoosiermat Breakout Wrestler of the Year.
