Description: This award goes to the best freshman wrestler in the state.

 

Breakdown: This was one of the most talented group of freshman to come into high school in a few years. We saw a lot of freshman take home some medals, but only one of them won a title. That was Brownsburg freshman Jake Hockaday, who beat the #1, #3, and #7 ranked kids on his way to a title. Outside of his loss at the sectional, Hockaday was pretty much untouched in the state of Indiana this year.  While it may not be as prestigious as a state title, we are happy to award Hockaday with this years Hoosiermat Freshman of the Year award.
