2022
Jesse Mendez
Crown Point
Description: This award goes to the wrestler who had the best season.
Breakdown: History was made this year at the state tournament as we crowned our 10th, 4-time state champion. Jesse Mendez has been amazing since the first time he stepped on the mat in a Crown Point singlet, and only got better from there. Mendez ended his career with 157 wins and only 1, never losing to a kid from Indiana. Mendez has also taken home Fargo title, as both a cadet and a junior, a folkstyle national title, a FloNationals title, and was awarded the 2021 Junior Hodge. Mendez has also made two world teams while in high school. Not enough can be said about this young man and his abilities cannot can not be praised enough. Congratulations to Jesse Mendez on being this years Hoosiermat Wrestler of the Year.
